It’s All About Perspective…

I know, I know.

It’s been a LONG time since I have blogged…and I swore I’d blog more while on Medical Leave for my thigh lift.

The thing about that is, I seem to forget how emotionally taxing surgery can be…even if it’s really exciting, post-weight loss, ridiculously awesome surgery like a thigh lift!

I had a really hard time….being pretty much incapacitated, being doped up on pain meds, and my incisions splitting, I was a bit of  a wreck.

But you know, I made it. I’ve taken the time to ease back into work, get ready for my first ever ACTUAL vacation, and focus on the upcoming holidays. It’s no excuse…but it’s the truth. For awhile now, the very thought of rehashing all of that here on my blog sorta depressed me.

The fact of the matter is, this blog is all about the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to my journey. So, it’s high time I address that, and keep my word to those who I told I’d share all the details with! You don’t HAVE to read my blog, but I promised myself I’d write it!

Quick recap:

Thigh surgery was semi-successful. At my last post-op appointment, Dr. Arya, my surgeon, said that we will most likely re-visit the area as a “scar revision” and actually suck out more fat and pull more skin up. I am not kidding when I say it was “more than excessive” to begin with. So, I am not surprised that we need to do more, but definitely a little disappointed.

It’s really important for Bariatric and Plastics post-ops to have realistic expectations, and at the end of the day, I admittedly expected more magic then there actually was. But alternately, I wore my first bikini in Hawaii a mere two weeks ago, and was more self-conscious about my back rolls….not my thighs!

Speaking of which:

Again, like the post title says: It’s all about perspective. 🙂

In other news, I am anxiously awaiting the holidays, and thinking of a master plan to get all my shopping budgeted and planned for. Obviously, with a mere 3 weeks to Black Friday, I am putting on my strategist hat and channeling the crazy Target commercial lady so I can get it all done relatively early.

Sean is graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing this Saturday, and I am preparing some surprises for that. Unfortunately, he was laid off from his job the day before I left for Hawaii, but with the pending graduation and an interview lined up this week, things are looking up!!

I will post more soon, but I wanted to make sure the world knows I am still alive, and still invested in SeeSondraSlim.

Thanks to all of you for the well wishes, kind words, and patience!

‘Til Next Time!

2013 Bucket List

So, today was totally exciting in my world!

First of all, one of our patients came into the practice with Girl Scout cookies today. While these tasty treats are NOT to be eaten with the tenacity of a Dyson vaccum cleaner….they are still one of the most favorite things every year for me! Lol.

Before the cookies happened, I scheduled my first Pole Dancing Fitness class at Sumara Pole in San Diego. Alex and I bought a 4-lesson Groupon LAST February, and it expires this February 13th…so we had to get a-movin’! Class is this Saturday at 9 am…the “Intro to Pole” session. Let me just say this….if you live in the San Diego area and you are interested in something like this, I already recommend Sumara. Sara was kind enough to send emails confirming registration and the validation of our Groupons. Then, she signs off “Make today as beautiful as you are!” on her emails. Shut up. Love her already! Should you be inclined to check them out, and you should be, you can go to the Sumara Pole Website. They were on the 2012 San Diego Best List, and Channel 10 A-List as well! San Diegans know this is creme de la creme type stuff! (….this should be hilarious when Alex and I get in that room).

Why is signing up for a pole dancing class such a significant part of my day, you may ask?

Well, it just so happens that I have finished putting together my….

2013 Bucket List

Take Pole Dancing Class

Pay off my credit card (Hellooo, Refund check!)

Go on an exotic vacation (buying my ticket to Hawaii with my refund check, and booking timeshare, too!)

Have Excess Skin Removal Surgery (consult Wednesday…this can happen! Keep me in your good thoughts!)

Become a more well-known blogger

Attend the Obesity Action Coalition conference in Phoenix in August 2013 (if you’re attending, please let me know! I need a friend!)

Join the OAC as a bona-fide member

Register SeeSondraSlim as its own domain (no more .wordpress)

Throw Alex a KILLER Bachelorette soiree, the likes of which the world has never seen

Complete a Half Marathon

Run a mile in 10 minutes (post-op, if I have it my way)

Drive more traffic to my work blog, which I also write!

Go to Disneyland with my pass at LEAST 5 times this year

Buy myself a Rose-Gold Michael Kors watch I’ve been lusting after

Buy myself a black Coach bag I’ve been equally lusting after

Lose 15 more lbs

Buy my first 2 piece bathing suit (for aforementioned exotic vacation, obviously)

As you can see, while the list is not gigantic, it’s substantial. As soon as my surgeon gives me that surgery date, I am going to Target and buying a killer two-piece! KILLER! It will be phenomenal! I cannot wait! As a matter of fact….

I came home today, and my plastic surgeon I am having my consult with on Wednesday had sent me a cool folder full of neat info: Surgeon Bio and Accredidations, Patient Information forms (so I can already have them filled out when I arrive), as well as a breakdown of how the visit will go.

I. AM. SO. EXCITED/SCARED.

On the bright side, Dr. Arya has EXCELLENT credentials, and already the surgical coordinator who sent my folder to me seems like my kinda girl: Type A, super organized, and efficient. That is just the kind of office and personnel I want to work with when considering procedures that are so serious.

Otherwise, it’s pretty much the usual happening in my world. Trying to get more intense in my workouts this week…I really want to get back to running, but this knee has been making that kind of hard for me. Still need to call that physical therapy office back (bad girl)! Oh well…everything will get done in due time. I am proud of myself for filing my taxes, keeping relatively healthy groceries in my house (minus todays GS cookies purchase), and budgeting pretty well. All the bills are paid, and things are going well!

My post wouldn’t be mine without some photos. So…

The Michael Kors watches I am debating between (wouldn’t be me without a little bling, now would it?)

Bezels and Glitz

Bezels and Glitz

Wooow.....pretty!

Wooow…..pretty!

As far as the bathing suits….I believe I referred to the coral dream suit in a previous post, back when I began SeeSondraSlim in 2011. However, trends have changed slightly, so here are my thoughts…

As far as coral goes, I think a little western Cali flair would be fun…

On the flip side, I keep ranting and raving about how I won’t even ENTERTAIN the thought of having a baby until I get to rock a white bikini on the beach….

So yeah….that’s that! This is like, my virtual dream board. Lol. So much easier than back in the old days, when I was cutting pictures out of magazines!

That’s all for now!

‘Til Next Time!
