It’s All About Perspective…

I know, I know.

It’s been a LONG time since I have blogged…and I swore I’d blog more while on Medical Leave for my thigh lift.

The thing about that is, I seem to forget how emotionally taxing surgery can be…even if it’s really exciting, post-weight loss, ridiculously awesome surgery like a thigh lift!

I had a really hard time….being pretty much incapacitated, being doped up on pain meds, and my incisions splitting, I was a bit of  a wreck.

But you know, I made it. I’ve taken the time to ease back into work, get ready for my first ever ACTUAL vacation, and focus on the upcoming holidays. It’s no excuse…but it’s the truth. For awhile now, the very thought of rehashing all of that here on my blog sorta depressed me.

The fact of the matter is, this blog is all about the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to my journey. So, it’s high time I address that, and keep my word to those who I told I’d share all the details with! You don’t HAVE to read my blog, but I promised myself I’d write it!

Quick recap:

Thigh surgery was semi-successful. At my last post-op appointment, Dr. Arya, my surgeon, said that we will most likely re-visit the area as a “scar revision” and actually suck out more fat and pull more skin up. I am not kidding when I say it was “more than excessive” to begin with. So, I am not surprised that we need to do more, but definitely a little disappointed.

It’s really important for Bariatric and Plastics post-ops to have realistic expectations, and at the end of the day, I admittedly expected more magic then there actually was. But alternately, I wore my first bikini in Hawaii a mere two weeks ago, and was more self-conscious about my back rolls….not my thighs!

Speaking of which:

Again, like the post title says: It’s all about perspective. 🙂

In other news, I am anxiously awaiting the holidays, and thinking of a master plan to get all my shopping budgeted and planned for. Obviously, with a mere 3 weeks to Black Friday, I am putting on my strategist hat and channeling the crazy Target commercial lady so I can get it all done relatively early.

Sean is graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing this Saturday, and I am preparing some surprises for that. Unfortunately, he was laid off from his job the day before I left for Hawaii, but with the pending graduation and an interview lined up this week, things are looking up!!

I will post more soon, but I wanted to make sure the world knows I am still alive, and still invested in SeeSondraSlim.

Thanks to all of you for the well wishes, kind words, and patience!

‘Til Next Time!

Who Wears Short Shorts?!

Not me.

Not yet.

But it’s not a “never” either.

I am 16 days away from my bi-lateral thigh lift, and while I have become more comfortable with my body and wearing shorts around my house and things like that, I am experiencing some SERIOUS anticipation (and anxiety) over the fact that I will be able to buy killer running shorts, yoga shorts, and denim shorts.

People who haven’t had weight issues, body-consciousness issues, or things like that may not ever consider the fact that things like shorts can be such a daunting thing! They can be ridiculously un-flattering, and you may have the guts to wear them…but the anxiety you have wearing them all day can be a real killjoy.

Some of my favorites I cannot wait to try and buy? Why, let me show you! 🙂

My pre-op appointment with Dr. Arya is this Tuesday, and I am excited to get the down-low on her complete plan of attack and to find out what revisions we have finalized in terms of my panniculectomy, otherwise known as excess skin removal of the abdomen!

It’s pretty cool, because heading to Phoenix for the Your Weight Matters Convention the weekend before surgery gives me the rare and unique opportunity to show the “before” and “after” sides of not only weight loss surgery, but of post-loss plastic surgery!

I am still super excited about becoming an official Brand Ambassador for Bulubox.com, and cannot WAIT to not only review the products I receive here on SeeSondraSlim, but to start being able to have extra healthy goodies and tips to take with me on trips like the anxiously awaited Phoenix one! Plus, who else has ever wished they had an extra protein bar or shake mix in their purse? Soooo much more convenient, and it makes it much easier to eat healthily, and prevent those moments of weakness at the cookie jar.

No? Just me? Lol!

Don’t forget: As a SeeSondraSlim reader, you have access to getting your first box FREE, or getting 50% off a 3, 6, or 12 month subscription by using the discount code ‘BULUGAN342‘ at checkout. Also, as a subscriber to monthly boxes (which ALWAYS ship free), you earn $$$ towards full-sized product purchases, and more!

Don’t forget to review products on the site (and share here on SeeSondraSlim!), to earn even more $$$ towards purchases, too!

In other news: Headed to the Old Town Temecula Farmers Market with Sean today, and got some AMAZING healthy eats for the week. Gorgeous heirloom tomatoes, mini Roma tomatoes, asparagus, fresh made pasta, fresh homemade red salsa, organic Italian sausage, fresh green beans, and more! We also stopped in wine country (obviously) to pick up our wine club shipment at South Coast Winery, and then headed home. I have a new favorite farmers market!

On the way back, we stopped to get some fixins’ for super fresh pizza/flatbreads I made for dinner. Garlic Rosemary crust with roasted red peppers, pepperoni, and mozzarella, and a plain crust with mini Romas, fresh mini mozzarella, and fresh basil.

Yeah, it was totally as yummy as it sounds, especially with a crisp salad on the side. Sometimes, indulgence can be fresh and surprisingly low-cal, too! Low-cal is super important to us after the wine tasting we had. The gentleman helping us had a VERY heavy hand, and a penchant for ignoring that we have only 5 tastes each. He kept saying “So, I’ll show you this one next….” or “if you like that, you’ll LOVE this….” and he did NOT strike out. Not once! We have been members for a year now, but his help navigating the menu and his attention to our preferences was awesome. We left him a $16 tip 🙂

That’s it for now, but I’ll be back soon! Here’s to a great rest of the weekend! 🙂

Life as I Know It (Or, AHH! It’s Almost August)

I am proud to announce that SeeSondraSlim was founded 2 years ago, today. 2 years ago, my weight loss journey took on a whole new meaning, and I am proud that it has gained a following and earned some street cred. It has been a wild, crazy, and emotional ride. It has been everything I hoped for, and it isn’t over yet! It has been absolutely AMAZING, and that’s because of YOU. Thank YOU, from the bottom of my heart!

In other news, it has become blaringly obvious to me that I am a grown up.

For one thing, I don’t get a summer vacation anymore. I miss those! For this reason, it has also come to my attention that no matter how ridiculously slow some days seem, the weeks and months pass by so quickly!

It’s like, I look up, and BAM! Summer is almost over. I had excess skin removal surgery on my stomach over 3 months ago.  I have my thigh lift/stomach revision in 19 days, and before that? 15 days until I attend the Taylor Swift concert with my Bestie, 16 days until Sean and I head to Phoenix for the OAC Your Weight Matters Convention, and then we come home and BAM! again. It’s almost September.

The past couple of weeks I have been a blogging procrastinator because I had been preparing for what will go down in my life as one of the best weekends EVER. My best friend Alex got married this past Saturday! As her Maid of Honor (which, I was truly too honored to be), I planned a fun night out last Thursday for the Bachelorette Party, we had  rehearsal dinner Friday, and before you could say ‘chapel’ it was time to see her walk down the aisle.

I’d post Bachelorette photos, but they violate girl code, and totally encapsulate what I feel like was a successful night between 6 good friends. I was fortunate to be a part of a bridal party made up of some amazing, hilarious, and super fun women. There was no drama, no shenanigans (the bad kind, that is), and I feel like that is  true testament to who my best friend really IS.

However, I will share the room setup for the party…if only because sometimes I impress myself with my creative skills. Lol.

The main table. Lanterns, Sangria, cupcakes, gift bags, and my tower of wine glasses (one wine glass was harmed in the making of this display).

The day of is something that shall forever be engraved in my memory. Everyone looked amazing, the weather was perfect, and the ceremony was beautiful. It’s something special to watch the people you love dedicate their lives to being together. It touches something in your heart….it’s like watching The Notebook, without any sad parts!! AMAZING!

The GORGEOUS Bride and I outside the hotel, right before we headed to the ceremony site!! AHHH!

The five HOT Bridesmaids! :)

The five HOT Bridesmaids! 🙂

Alex gave each of us girls a gorgeous Coach clutch as a thank you, and I was floored to learn that not only had she and Josh gotten me a special Maid of Honor gift…but it just so happened to be what!?! The runner-up dream swimsuit from my previous Dream Bikini post!

YAY! Hawaii in roughly 3 months! I am rockin' this baby while we are there!!!

YAY! Hawaii in roughly 3 months! I am rockin’ this baby while we are there!!!

Now that the wedding is over, I am focused on preparing for all the concert/convention/surgery madness coming in August, and starting my savings/shopping/packing plans for Hawaii in October. While we are there, I am hoping to conquer one of my biggest fears: heights. Myself, Alex and our friend Zainab are planning on going on a hike that ends in cliff diving.

I have seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so I am assuming by the time I get to the top of a cliff, I will totally want to dive into the water…and it’s the super easy way to get back down. This doesn’t subtract from the terror that strikes my heart momentarily when I imagine looking out a nothing but sky, and down at nothing but water! But hey…I will do it anyways!

I am super excited that our Phoenix trip is roughly two weeks away! With all the things my time has been devoted to for the last couple of months, I am really happy to be going on a road trip with Sean and spending some quality time together! Plus, the convention line-up looks AMAZING! I am having a hard time deciding which speakers to see….and can’t wait for the Awards Dinner and workout schedule….plus, the water park on-site at the resort! Considering August in Arizona can be a brutal thing, I will welcome that. If all works out as planned, I may even book myself a spa service while we are there! 🙂

Most importantly, so many exclusive products will be at the convention, and I am excited to learn about new things, and be able to share info about helpful products and resources with YOU, my wonderful readers! And? Shelly Vicari, from ‘The World According to Eggface,” my personal blogging idol will be there. It’s gonna be good stuff!!

That’s all for now, but I promise I am working on getting back on my ‘A’ blogging game. SeeSondraSlim has tons more good stuff in store, and I cannot WAIT to share it all with you very soon!

‘Til Next Time!
