2013 Bucket List

So, today was totally exciting in my world!

First of all, one of our patients came into the practice with Girl Scout cookies today. While these tasty treats are NOT to be eaten with the tenacity of a Dyson vaccum cleaner….they are still one of the most favorite things every year for me! Lol.

Before the cookies happened, I scheduled my first Pole Dancing Fitness class at Sumara Pole in San Diego. Alex and I bought a 4-lesson Groupon LAST February, and it expires this February 13th…so we had to get a-movin’! Class is this Saturday at 9 am…the “Intro to Pole” session. Let me just say this….if you live in the San Diego area and you are interested in something like this, I already recommend Sumara. Sara was kind enough to send emails confirming registration and the validation of our Groupons. Then, she signs off “Make today as beautiful as you are!” on her emails. Shut up. Love her already! Should you be inclined to check them out, and you should be, you can go to the Sumara Pole Website. They were on the 2012 San Diego Best List, and Channel 10 A-List as well! San Diegans know this is creme de la creme type stuff! (….this should be hilarious when Alex and I get in that room).

Why is signing up for a pole dancing class such a significant part of my day, you may ask?

Well, it just so happens that I have finished putting together my….

2013 Bucket List

Take Pole Dancing Class

Pay off my credit card (Hellooo, Refund check!)

Go on an exotic vacation (buying my ticket to Hawaii with my refund check, and booking timeshare, too!)

Have Excess Skin Removal Surgery (consult Wednesday…this can happen! Keep me in your good thoughts!)

Become a more well-known blogger

Attend the Obesity Action Coalition conference in Phoenix in August 2013 (if you’re attending, please let me know! I need a friend!)

Join the OAC as a bona-fide member

Register SeeSondraSlim as its own domain (no more .wordpress)

Throw Alex a KILLER Bachelorette soiree, the likes of which the world has never seen

Complete a Half Marathon

Run a mile in 10 minutes (post-op, if I have it my way)

Drive more traffic to my work blog, which I also write!

Go to Disneyland with my pass at LEAST 5 times this year

Buy myself a Rose-Gold Michael Kors watch I’ve been lusting after

Buy myself a black Coach bag I’ve been equally lusting after

Lose 15 more lbs

Buy my first 2 piece bathing suit (for aforementioned exotic vacation, obviously)

As you can see, while the list is not gigantic, it’s substantial. As soon as my surgeon gives me that surgery date, I am going to Target and buying a killer two-piece! KILLER! It will be phenomenal! I cannot wait! As a matter of fact….

I came home today, and my plastic surgeon I am having my consult with on Wednesday had sent me a cool folder full of neat info: Surgeon Bio and Accredidations, Patient Information forms (so I can already have them filled out when I arrive), as well as a breakdown of how the visit will go.

I. AM. SO. EXCITED/SCARED.

On the bright side, Dr. Arya has EXCELLENT credentials, and already the surgical coordinator who sent my folder to me seems like my kinda girl: Type A, super organized, and efficient. That is just the kind of office and personnel I want to work with when considering procedures that are so serious.

Otherwise, it’s pretty much the usual happening in my world. Trying to get more intense in my workouts this week…I really want to get back to running, but this knee has been making that kind of hard for me. Still need to call that physical therapy office back (bad girl)! Oh well…everything will get done in due time. I am proud of myself for filing my taxes, keeping relatively healthy groceries in my house (minus todays GS cookies purchase), and budgeting pretty well. All the bills are paid, and things are going well!

My post wouldn’t be mine without some photos. So…

The Michael Kors watches I am debating between (wouldn’t be me without a little bling, now would it?)

Bezels and Glitz

Wooow.....pretty!

Wooow…..pretty!

As far as the bathing suits….I believe I referred to the coral dream suit in a previous post, back when I began SeeSondraSlim in 2011. However, trends have changed slightly, so here are my thoughts…

As far as coral goes, I think a little western Cali flair would be fun…

On the flip side, I keep ranting and raving about how I won’t even ENTERTAIN the thought of having a baby until I get to rock a white bikini on the beach….

So yeah….that’s that! This is like, my virtual dream board. Lol. So much easier than back in the old days, when I was cutting pictures out of magazines!

That’s all for now!

Life is Crazy…

Whew!

Been taking on more responsibility at work, checking out all the fun wedding stuff and trying to live up to the best Maid of Honor EVER status I have set out to achieve, and  also working on planning a baby shower for one of my very dear friends. In the midst of those things, I am also trying to lose a couple pounds before I see the surgeon in just a week, to see if I am a candidate for a Panniculectomy and a thigh lift.

I should clarify that my journey, and the reason I share it, are not because I have the ambitions to be a super skinny Victorus’s Secret bombshell (although I frequently joke about such things…if you knew me before, you know that my narcissistic tendencies haven’t even been increased since losing all this weight. I was always full of myself and had a hard time fitting my head through the door).

I have been so blessed with the opportunities and the motivation that have made this weight loss possible. And now that I have lost a significant amount, and seen the things my body can do…I can’t really see myself settling. Some people think I am crazy for having “cosmetic” procedures, but you know, after weight loss in numbers like this, it actually becomes “Medically Necessary.” So…that means, once again, insurance pays!

And we all know I love my free stuff! Besides…it’s hard to know that I have lost over 120 lbs, but I still can’t wear a two-piece bathing suit (not even slutty!)  because of this ridiculous apron of fat over my pelvic bone. UNACCEPTABLE! Lol.

So, I will at least explore my options, and as always, I will hope for the best!

I came across this on Tumblr, and it made me remember how I used to feel sometimes, so I thought I’d share it.

I know this to be true! Even at 305 lbs, you’d see me wearing what I wanted (as long as it was tasteful and I could keep my self-respect), and I would be proud of myself and make the best of the body I had.

At the time, this was my absolute fave pik of myself!

I always have an issue with getting the rudest looks and comments when I wear shorts...but for this birthday, I didn't care!

This dress! I never wore it out, because it was always a little big and I never got it taken in...but I made sure we took photos of it!

And then we fast-forward to now, where I still pretty much wear what I want, when I want, and if you don’t like my lumpy thighs and their excess skin, I’m just kinda like “Bite Me!”

Besides, most times, I choose cuts that are too flattering for all of that. I give you the present (not like you haven’t seen these already, but just for shock factor!)

Yeah...this is definitely my favorite head shot in a looong time!

You'll find I have many more full-body photos these days!

What's that? Shorts, and I let a photo of me sitting down be taken? WOO!

Moral of the story?

More than that, make sure that you do what makes YOU happy. When you go to bed at night, make sure that what you think about yourself is that last thing on your mind. Not the words of the ignorant lady at Trader Joe’s who thought you wouldn’t hear her ask her friend “Why would she wear those shorts?” and make you have to get all crazy on her before you can buy your damn edamame and sea salt caramels!

Be happy with you. And if you’re not, do something about it! It’s all up to you…and it’s ok to need help! ASK FOR IT!

That’s my rant and update for now. But I wanted to make sure I posted, and shared that all-over-the-place insight with everyone!

An Award? For Me? :)

Gooood afternoon, everyone!

I wanted to just thank my friend over at Artsy Architette for nominating me for the Beautiful Blogger award.

1.15

I believe she put it flawlessly:

“These blogosphere community awards are always nice to give and receive, to know your fellow bloggers enjoy what you are putting out there.”

The Beauty Blogger Award has the following rules:

1. Link back the person who nominated you.

2. Post the award on your page.

3. Tell seven facts about yourself.

4. Nominate seven bloggers and let them know they have been nominated.

As I have done number one and number two, it’s on to number three.

Seven facts about me:

1. I am (still) obsessed with the LC by Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl’s, and I am anxiously awaiting a good sale and coupon combo so I can buy the new white skinnies with floral dsigns up the sides!

1256540

2. I just cleaned out all of my closet space, as well as my entire vanity and the 2 giant drawer organizers full of beauty/hair products I own. I have a serious shopping itch, but I am trying to wait until I find out about my skin-removal surgery before I go nuts.

3. I wear a size 11 shoe, complain about how hard it is to find size 11 shoes, and yet….I own about 50 pairs of size 11 shoes. Half(if not more) of those are still in the boxes, and haven’t been worn but maybe once. Shame, shame!

4. I absolutely hate drivers who don’t use their blinker!!!! HATE them with a passion! (I second this. How am I supposed to know you want to get over in front of me within a HAIR of my bumper, if you don’t give me some sort of sign…like ya, know…your freakin’ blinker!)

5. I use my horn in my car…..a LOT. Everywhere….parking lot, freeway, intersection….I don’t discriminate!

6. I have a lot of TV shows I really enjoy watching, but don’t have cable. I rarely have time to catch up with them on my Hulu Plus either….so when I do, I’m up until 2 am catching up on Glee, Grey’s, Whitney, New Girl, etc.

7. My dream job is to own my own Event Planning business. I would love to be responsible for coordinating fabulous (not to mention, FIERCE-looking) events. Then, I’d be able to wear all those shoes!

My seven nominations:

1. Fit Girl Lifestyle

2. Muffins and Mocha

3. 2 Fat Nerds

4. My Last Fat Year

5. On the Go Fitness

6.Fat Girl to Fit Girl

7. Trying Not to Be Fat

So, that is that. Definitely check these blogs out if you get a chance. If health, fitness, or even just fun reading are up your alley, I can promise you won’t be disappointed. These bloggers are truly talented, and I always look forward to post notifications!

That’s all for now, but I’ll be back later with some rants and updates….after my dentist appointment.

Ugh. Why can’t teeth be self-cleaning, like lady parts? I dread the dentist!

This makes me feel better! 🙂

A good message for everyone!

It’s Beginning to Feel a Lot like 2013!

Ah, and here we are. The New Year came far too quickly, and I had to rush out to Staples today and buy a new wall calendar because sheer panic set in every time that I looked at my old one and didn’t see January 2013 on it! A girl cannot live by planner alone! My planner is for my purse…I cannot function without my wall calendar.

So, yeah! Now that all is right in the world, I thought I’d come and babble to my favorite people: My readers!

The holidays have come and gone, and I can honestly say I am relieved. All that shopping and running around…I am getting way too old for that! Haha!

Christmas brought some awesome surprises!

For example, upon leaving my aunt and uncle’s house the Saturday after Christmas, my uncle told me to make sure I had room in the Jeep…and I was totally confused! Turns out, I needed to make room for this:

My new 32" flat screen TV!!

My new 32″ flat screen TV!!

I was so beyond excited, because I have never owned a television before….let alone one that is brand spanking new!

When I got back to San Diego that day, Sean and I exchanged gifts. He seemed surprised by his Tag Heuer watch, and has been wearing it to his new job at the bank. 🙂 I didn’t expect him to get me anything, but lo and behold, another first!:

My first Steelers Jersey, and a Steelers scarf!

My first Steelers Jersey, and a Steelers scarf!

He gave me the scarf, and then a few minutes later to check in his jacket for a hoodie his dad was missing, and my jersey was hanging up when I opened the closet door! YAY!

I am also really excited about one of the gifts Alex got me!

rwtrainingjournal_120773_700x700

I can’t wait to start tracking my progress, and the tips and inspirational quotes are so awesome! I know this will be a great resource! She also got me a hilarious gift, that was on my Pinterest “Must Have” board!

Pineapple-Corer

It seems silly, but I always see whole pineapples on sale, but I don’t buy them because I don’t have ANY idea how to cut them without wasting half the fruit. Also, I am currently obsessed with domestic/houseware type things, and this just seemed too good to be true! But, alas, it is true. Because Alex got it for me! Thank you, Bestie!

I had to buy myself a couple of things for Christmas this year. Top of my list was the Pure Komachi 2 Knife set at costco, for $29.99. They are super colorful, and we were giving them away at work as part of the “12 Days of Christmas” giveaway at work….everyone who saw them and had them, raved about how amazing they are, and with my domestic obsessions lately, I decided I’d like to have them.

l

Also, after all the After-Christmas shoppers calmed down, I stopped by Target to catch the Neiman Marcus for Target collection sale, and picked up thge Diane Von Furstenburg yoga mat. It has a carrier strap, and it is the premium thickness that my current one (which is actually one of Alex’s THREE yoga mats) lacks.

FIERCE!

FIERCE!

Last splurge of the season….remember that gold dress from the LC by Lauren Conrad that I was talking about in that last post? Allow me to refresh your memory 🙂

1217585

Well, Kohl’s didn’t let me down! My Auntie Crystal gave me $40 for Christmas, and I managed to scoop up this dress, a $40 cardigan and some $88 Rock and Republic jeans for just over $38! Yup….I said it! One of my best receipts in the last year, if I do say so myself:

Clearance+extra 25% off clearance+20% off purchase coupon= HAPPY SONDRA!

Clearance+extra 25% off clearance+20% off purchase coupon= HAPPY SONDRA!

I mean seriously, how can you not feel like a superhero when your receipt says you saved $156.48?!?!?!

Speaking of dresses, I have QUITE a few hanging in my closet that haven’t been worn, so I’ve been taking every opportunity I possibly can to dress up and use them. Here are some of the recent ones:

December 22nd, for Friend Day with the girls!

December 22nd, for Friend Day with the girls!

I really love this one. It’s from Forever 21, and actually, Sean picked it out. It’s a bandage dress, so it can get a little tricky when it comes to camoflaging lumps and bumps, but I was pretty pleased with this little number! It was the perfect mix of contemporary and classic to me!

My first SIZE EIGHT DRESS!

My first SIZE EIGHT DRESS!

Ok, so I was at TJ Maxx with Alex a few months ago, and came across this dress when I went in the fitting room to try on a Jessica Simpson blouse. I saw it was a size 8, but sometimes, you just look at an item of clothing, and if you know your body (and you used to be a personal shopper, like myself), then you can pretty much tell if something is going to fit or not. I grabbed it, asked the attendant to add it to my items (and sweetly ignored her skeptical look), and went in to try it on….it’s Calvin Klein, and was on clearance for $20….and it’s a SIZE 8!!! Definitely goes in the 2012 Shopping Hall of Fame! Lol. And I just wore it to church this past Sunday, and was definitely pleased with the end result. Plus, Sean came to spend the weekend with my family in San Bernardino, and we went to church, so he got to see the dress too….normally he only sees me in sweats or jeans.

Speaking of Sean….everytime I need a pick-me-up, I find myself going back to a convo of ours that I just had to post on Instagram a few weeks ago:

It's clear why I love him. :)

It’s clear why I love him. 🙂

Sean got me Rosetta Stone Italiano for Christmas in 2011, and while using it the other day, I sent him a corny/mushy text, and this is what I get back. HAHA! Gotta love him!

Also on Instagram (@SeeSondraSlimmer), you can catch me posting the occasional inspirational/motivational image! Some of my faves?

Of course, you can expect to see my face from time to time as well! My current favorite? My pre-workout shot I caught before yoga….I felt like a fit goddess, and channel that feeling often since!

LOVE THIS PHOTO! And my VS yoga pants!

LOVE THIS PHOTO! And my VS yoga pants!

That top and sports bra were also gifts from a coworker, and they are amazing! Everything at Target is AMAZING, dang it! EVERYTHING! Lol.

I think that is all for now, but stay tuned for the next installment of the 30 Day Challenge, as soon as I get someone to take the photos. It turns out my plastic surgeon’s office called today and asked to push my appointment back, but thankfully it’s only by one day! So I will meet Dr. Ariya on January 30th, and discuss my panniculectomy (a procedure to remove the excess “apron” skin), and thighplasty (a thigh “lift,” so to speak).

I am excited to see what will happen in the futiure, and cannot wait to keep you all posted!

I hope everyone’s new year is off to a great start! Let’s kick 2013 in the butt, and MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!

‘Til Next Time!
